Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all of you!

Its been 10 long days since I've been to blog land and it feels like ages! Where has the time gone? We, along with all of you I'm sure, have been busy enjoying the Christmas season by spending time with friends and family, shopping for said friends and family, and all things in between.

Right now we are at home with our families. We are so thankful for the sweet people God has surrounded us with. It is always such a blessing to us to get to come home and enjoy them.

This Christmas, as many of you know, has been our 'First Christmas'. That makes me so excited. I'll have lots more posts to come related to this topic :) (Also, lots of posts about what we have been doing!)

But really quick, I must tell you about my favorite gift I received this Christmas. I'll have more about it later, but briefly, I received our 'Family Bible'. I'm sure most of you know how big of a deal this is. Its an amazing feeling to be a newlywed and to receive THE bible that will be THE bible you and your husband (and future children!) will read out of at least every Christmas, not to mention several other times every year. I was ecstatic when I first opened it and immediately teared up, followed by sweet Husband!

I hope your Christmas has been filled with joy and happiness!

Right now I have a 5 year old little girl sitting by my side wanting to play Sponge Bob Operation :) I love my sweet neices and my blessed life!

Merry Christmas!

I Sit Here In Tears...

As we speak....I sit here in tears.

Now, before you read any further, let me assure you that I am not sad, everyone in my family is safe and healthy, and all is well with us!

My tears are a combination of all kinds of emotion that welled up inside of me after a phone call from My Dad.
This guy....
One of the two sweetest men God has blessed me so richly with.
In my lifetime thus far, My Dad has said many things to me that have been more thoughtful and genuinely more caring than any other word's I've ever heard.
Now for all of you "Daddy's Girls" out there, you know exactly what I mean. A "Daddy's Girl" lingers on every word her dad speaks to her and adheres to every piece of advice he gives to her because she knows it is the truth or what is best for her. (All of which are also true for our Heavenly Father, but this post is for the Dad He blessed me with while on this earth.)
So, tonight on the way home from dinner with Husband, My Dad called my cell phone. I answered and we briefly talked about what we were doing and how we had been. The next statement he made was what did it to me. Its the statement that brought on the water works. Here's a recap of the dialogue:

My Dad: "So do you know what last Saturday was the anniversary of?"
Me: "Uhhhh....(stressing, was it his birthday? Of course not, that's in April.) No what?"

My Dad: "Last Saturday was the one year anniversary of the day we found and bought your wedding dress."

Me: "..........." (The tears begin to well up in my eyes.) "Really? I didn't even think of it!"

My Dad: "I meant to call you last Saturday to see if you remembered."

I mean seriously ladies. Is that not the sweetest, most thoughtful thing you have ever heard? Of course I immediately told him how sweet it was that he remembered. He, then, told me how he couldn't forget it.......Seriously, my heart is still trying to recover from its melt down. I cannot even begin to explain the magnitude of what this simple phone call meant to me.
Its such a big deal when a dad's daughter gets married. This is a common fact and something I have always known was a big deal to My Dad. Tonight, however, I actually got a peak into the actual amount that it really did mean to him, when I got married. For My Dad to remember the day we found and bought my dress means that it was a huge and very important day to him. Quite possibly more so than it was for me. After all, he was the one who picked it out and told me that it was The One :)
I must say that not only do I have the sweetest husband, but My Dad is by far the sweetest dad. He was the first important Man in my life and will always be one of the top two. I love you, Dad!
P.S. Hope you enjoyed some of our professional pictures from the wedding day! We finally got our CD with all of the images. It took a while, but was definetly worth the wait. (And don't worry mothers and grandmothers....we will be bringing the CD's home at Christmas! And for the readers, you'll get to see more of our pictures taken by the talented Dale Benfield and Meredith "Soon to be Benfield" McClary!)
Merry Christmas!

Husband's Birthday!

Today is my sweet Husband's birthday and I think I am more excited than he is! He is now 26 years old! (Photo courtesy of the brilliant Dale Benfield)
I have always said that when I have my own little family, that I was going to do my best to make each of them feel SUPER special. Afterall, it is their special day that only comes once a year! Right now my little family consists of Husband, I've worked all day to make him feel special :)

I left Husband a card this morning, a "husband" card by the way! It was my first time to go to the store and pick out a card that was in the "husband" section! I was crazy giddy and had the hardest time picking one out. I knew it would be the only "FIRST husband" card that I would ever give to him :) It had to be great, which it was!

The details of his gifts will remain undisclosed, a lot of them have to do with a Wii, Wii accessories, and something made by Easton :) He has received most of them, but he won't get the Easton gift until tonight after dinner! So if you talk to him before 10 p.m., shhhhh! Please don't tell :)
We are about to walk out the door right now to go eat his birthday dinner! We are going to Herman's Ribhouse, its a surprise to him still, but he is going to be sooooo excited!

Talk to you soon!

'Non-CHRISTmas" Gift from Husband

I told you yesterday about a present I received from Husband. This was not a CHRISTmas gift, or so he says....

You see, Husband and I decided to make it our goal to sponsor an Angel Tree child every CHRISTmas. This year, with all of the hustle and bustle of getting used to being newlyweds and starting our own CHRISTmas traditions and routine, we thought we would focus on our Angel Tree child and not buy for each other. Plus, as with any other family out there, the economy is putting extra pressure on us this holiday season. We want to make sure to stick to our plan of buying for an Angel Tree child, PLUS buy all of our family gifts because they are sooo stinking special to us!

Now back to the present! Before Husband and I were married and when we were engaged, we made a deal. We realized we would be moving to Northwest Arkansas, where it is usually a lot colder than Central Arkansas (where we are both from). If you know me well, you know that I am extremely cold natured. My hands and nose are generally cool to the touch at all times. I informed Husband that if he was going to make me move farther north, he would have to get me a new SUPER warm jacket so I could survive, of course ;) Being the sweet man that he is, Husband agreed.

As we all know, the temperature has gradually been dropping and the forecast for this week has pretty much been....COLD, COLD, COLD, every day! So, when I got home from my work dinner on Tuesday night, this is what I saw:
Isn't it beautiful??? #1 the box is huge, #2 the paper is gold and gorgeous, #3 the bow is big and red!

Husband gave me the option of when I wanted to open it. I could not decide for the life of me!!! I love looking at the gorgeous wrap job, but I NEEDED to know what was inside it! He gave up and made the decision for me, so I opened it! After he insisted of course :) Here is what I found inside...

:) I love it! Its made by Northface and the fabric on the outside is so super soft and smooth. Its filled with some super light and super warm down and is still form-fitting, instead of being huge and puffy. I just love it. It feels like being wrapped up in a heater!

Husband was so super sweet to remember our "Jacket Deal". He couldn't have given it to me at a better time, because it is miserably cold outside....but then again, miserably cold for me is anything lower than 70 degrees :)

Once again, here is our little buddy, being a cuddle bug as always!

I know we take a million pictures of him, but I just can't help it! What in the world will we be like when we have our first child???? Here he is again, so you can see his sweet faced tucked into my elbow :)Talk to you soon!

Have You Seen This Stocking???

This is ridiculous, you don't have to tell me because I am well aware! I just can't help myself. This stocking, to me, is the stocking of all stockings! I found it last year during, you guessed it, the after CHRISTmas sales :) (which by the way I can't wait to do that again this year!)

It's hard to tell in the picture, but its made out of several different fabrics giving it great texture. I just think it is perfect! Super texturey (is that a word? most likely not!) and did you notice the toe of it? Its so pointy and fun! Also, its a lot bigger than it looks in the picture. Its so hard to find big/roomy stockings that are still stylish. So, of course, when I found this one, I had to buy it.

I found it at Dillard's, and only this one. There were lots of other stockings that were a maroonish color, but I love the bright red. I searched several Dillard's stores, but had ZERO luck in finding another one. If you happen to run across it let me know! If we don't find one soon, I guess Husband won't get any stocking gifts this year :) Only kidding.

***If you have any suggestions on where to find big, stylish, roomy stockings, please pass along that information! Being a newlywed means starting new traditions from scratch, such as finding the stockings we will have for at least several years! Any help is appreciated!!!***

Tomorrow I'll let you in on an early gift I received the other night from Husband....he is too good to me you guys! Melts my heart :)

For now I will leave you with this handsome fella'!
He was trying to help, but then gave up! Isn't his little paw on my arm the sweetest thing ever??? He is The Cat of all cats. None come sweeter :)

Talk to you soon!

Christmas Plates GALORE!

I'm sure many of you already know of my LOVE for decorative plates, but if you didn't, you're about to! Last year during the after CHRISTmas sales, I found several plates that were too adorable to pass up. Some I, of course, needed right then and bought for my self. Others, I received as gifs at CHRISTmas. Here they are, all over our home!

This one is on the kitchen counter. It reads, "May all your days be merry and bright, And may all your Christmases be white." Love it. Isn't that ornament great! I received it as a gift, too. I just love the ribbon on the top.
I have several of these Lenox CHRISTmas plates that are out on our table.
These plates on this plate hanger are my favorites. They really focus on what this time of the year is all about.
I took some close up shots so you could read what is written on the plates. If you still can't see, this one reads, "Then Jesus spoke to them again; 'I am the light of the world anyone who follows me will never walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.' "
"Life was in Him and that Life was the light of men."
"God said let their be light...and there was Jesus."
The green one is displayed on the one side of the bar. I love these little stick reindeer/moose. They're so sweet!
The other side of the bar.
I don't think a house can ever have enough, good CHRISTmas decorations! Everything becomes glittery and sparkley, which, of course, is fabulous.
And then there's this sweet boy...
He melts my heart with his sweet, cuddley nature. Even when he looks quite odd sleeping upside down!
Also, I am officially listening to CHRISTmas music 24/7. Its so much fun! What's your favorite song for the season?

December 1st

Happy December!

The first day of December always gets me so excited! I love the way it feels when every place you go is decorated for CHRISTmas!

Husband and I went shopping last night and are putting some finishing touches on our home decor for the holidays! Can't wait to show you pictures when things settle down a bit! I have a work dinner meeting tonight, so I'll try to post tomorrow!

Talk to you soon!
