Scrumptious "Monster Cookie" Recipe

Monster Cookies:
These are all of the ingredients needed to make these delicious cookies!
6 eggs
1 Tbsp. Vanilla
1 lb. brown sugar
4 Tbsp. baking soda
2 cups sugar
1 pack milk chocolate chips
2 sticks of butter (softened)
1 lb. M&M's
1.5 lbs. peanut butter
9 cups of oats
If you can't tell by the list of ingredients, this recipe makes a lot of cookies! 100-150 to be exact! I use this dish to mix all of the ingredients in. You can find them at Wal-Mart or any other grocery store.
Mix all of the dry ingredients, first. This allows for everything to be well incorporated before you add the wet stuff that will make everything clump up. (no one wants to bite into a big chunk of baking soda!)
Add in the wet ingredients, next, until mixed well. Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty!
Its often convenient to enlist a small child to do this messy work! Or you can do what I do, and ask sweet Husband :)
Don't forget to grease your cookie sheets!
Bake the cookies at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes, depending on your oven. The cookies are very delicate and crumbley, so make sure they cool for a short time before you try to move them. I let mine cool on wire racks covered with foil, so they don't fold through the cracks. Once they cool, they will firm up into their shape and hold.
They are oh so delicious and you will have plenty to share with those around you! I took a large portion of them to my work today, and they VANISHED! They were a big hit :)

O' Christmas Tree!

Here it is ladies and gents! Our First Christmas Tree :)

We think she's a beauty! Red, of course, is our most favorite color. When it comes to our tree, there is no such thing as "too much red." Here's a closer look at a few of the pieces:

We chose some ornate flower pieces to be the topper to our tree. Stars and angels, etc. are very traditional, which I love, but I had a hard time finding ones that I liked. I think these flowers are perfect.

Here are the super fun lime green ornaments we found, along with our golden beast of an ornament. I adore these. The bigger ornament, the better!

The brown beauties. I am Oh So Happy with how these turned out on the tree! Very different than what I'm used to, but the brown gives the tree a little bit of a modern flare. I just can't get away from my traditional taste too much :)

The red damask ornaments....oh my goodness. They are my absolute favorite. I found these last year in the after Christmas sales. What a steal of a deal I got on these! I searched at several different Dillards' stores to come up with the amount of these that I wanted (15). I still wish I had more :) Plus, I accidently shattered one....it was a very sad moment!

Not only do I love these red damask ornaments, but I love all of the extra accessories I found to go with them! Such as this red damask ribbon:

And this red damask towel that came as a set of two:

I can't wait to see all of y'alls trees and Christmas decorations out there!

Tomorrow I"ll share with you a delicious recipe for these scrumptious cookies :) I can't take credit for the recipe, but I will pass it along! (Notice that there is a cookie missing in this picture. I'll give you one guess as to who snagged it!) And, of course, I'll end with a picture of The Cat. He was wore out two weekends ago when we finished putting the tree up!(I need to start my Christmas shopping so I can have some pretty packages under our pretty tree!)

Take care and God bless,

Our First Christmas!

Oh, how I love Christmas! What it means, the decorations, the food, etc., etc. Husband was a man of his word and lovingly carried all Christmas storage totes down from the attic on Sunday. My hero :) There is no way I could have carried most of those boxes because they were so stuffed full!

As you know, Husband was slightly against putting the decorations up this early. But, our circumstances (being out of town for 3 out of the next 7 weeks) allowed us (me) no other choice. I need plenty of time to enjoy the feeling of Christmas in my living room and every other room of the house for at least a solid month! So, I helped husband get into the Christmas Spirit by turning on the movie "Elf" with Will Ferrell as we decorated :) Its our favorite.

Being "Our First Christmas" and all, everything has to be perfect. So far so good!

Lovely Tree...Check

Festive Mantle...Check

Decorative plates (EVERYWHERE)...Check!

All we have left is the front door, a few more items on the end tables, around the fire place, and a little something in each of the bathrooms and the bedrooms.......Okay, maybe its quite a bit left, but I'm a firm believer that it should feel like Christmas in every room of your house! Husband loves it. Every day he comes home and there is usually a new item added to our decor. I just can't help myself :)

So here is the initial explosion.

Our house is still, quite the mess. we have garland with metallic mesh still laying our on the floor. There is no sense of vaccuuming yet, because Husband and The Cat manage to track the pine needles Everywhere!

This explosion made The Cat quite the nervous nelly!

Unpacking my goodies that I haven't seen since last year. It was so much fun to see all of the great stuff we found last year at the "after Christmas sales"!

My red metallic mesh that I LOVE. You can mold it and make it do anything!

The Cat is already going crazy with all of the new things to play with....especially my mesh!

And, yes, he is Inside that roll of mesh....what?????? He's very odd :)

Last night I was watching So You Think You Can Dance (Love that show), and this is what I saw on the other end of the couch:

Could they be any sweeter? I mean honestly! The Cat is soooo super comfortable around here. I'm so happy he made the transition from my parents' house to ours so well.

Hope your Christmas decorating is going great!

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like....

Okay....well, not really.
1. Its still not very cold around here, usually in the upper 60's.
2. We haven't pulled our Christmas decorations down out of the attic yet, but that's happening on Sunday.
3. And its not even Thanksgiving yet, but its right around the corner!

I have had Christmas Fever for about 2 weeks now....and Husband despises me for it :) I love Christmas music and I can't help but walk around humming Christmas Tunes that get stuck, and I mean STUCK, in my head for hours at a time.

Husband loves Christmas just as much as I do, but he hates rushing past Thanksgiving. Inspite of this fact, he sweetly offered to take me to see "A Christmas Carol" on Sunday after church. Not only that, but he volunteered to go ahead and pull the decorations down! At that point, even though the decorations will be down and available, I will have to gradually introduce Christmas into our house up until Thanksgiving. I don't think Husband would be thrilled if he were to come home one evening before Thanksgiving, and it looked like Christmas had exploded in our house :) When we go out shopping, its hilarious to see his face when each store is completely decked out for Christmas!

A couple of weeks ago Husband and I had a discussion about whether or not we were going to send out Christmas cards. His basic response was similar to this, "I rarely put my foot down on anything with you, but this is where I draw the line!" Draw the line? Excuse me? You can just pick that foot back up and erase that line right this minute!
Since he was sooooo against the Christmas card idea, I decided to take it a little further just to see how he reacted! So, I started telling him how sweet it would be to send out Christmas cards with a family picture on it. Me, him in a TURTLENECK, and The Cat in a Santa outfit! Ha! His reaction was priceless! He had the most worried look on his face!
#1 he does NOT wear turtlenecks.
#2 he hates animal clothes!
Whether or not we will be sending them out is "still up for debate" or so he thinks. But come on, we all know its happening :) Maybe not with a turtleneck or cat, but its most definitley happening.

Continuing with the Christmas fever....I found these a few weeks ago and fell immediately. in. love.

I would have never thought of putting brown on a Christmas tree, but you just have to see it grouped with my other tree colors to understand. I am VERY VERY VERY traditional when it comes to all things holiday related. The ornaments we bought last year were all red and gold, which we both love. Then I finally found some large, lime green ornaments. FINALLY! Oversized ornaments are my favorite! Then I found the brown ones grouped with red, gold, and lime green. It was GORGEOUS! I absolutely can't wait to see it all come together.

I, also, found these beauties
Love the polkadots, color, and glitter. Perfect.

I'll share lots more once the decorations come out, but give me a little while (like till Thanksgiving). Gotta keep Husband happy :)

Wonderful Weekend of Wackiness

Wackiness is absolutely the perfect word to describe our funfilled weekend. Imagine your household: Wife, Husband, and The Cat. Now imagine adding the following: Dad, Mom, Sister, Bro-in-law, Neices times two, and a "yappy" dog. A total of 8 people and 2 animals inside one house, and not the largest house in the world, might I add.

It was a packed house....and it was Perfect. Absolutely Perfect.

The hustle and bustle of everyone each morning, getting ready took me back to my premarital days. There is no way to imitate the feeling of family. How I wish we could be surrounded by both of our families all the time. Instead, we are limited to occasional trips here or there, so we try to make the best of them. And this time was no different.

The Razorback game on Saturday was the focus of our weekend. We of course went out to eat, had a movie night, etc., etc. So here are lots of pictures over the course of the last two days.

Ashley and Gracie in Bud Walton Arena, visiting Hog Heaven.
Ashley and her sweet Uncle. Her little legs didn't quite want to make the trek up all of those ramps :)
The parents :) Love them.
My sister's sweet family. Can't wait to see them again.
Me and Husband.Sister and Ashley....Ash was VERY into the game. She asked question, after question making her Grandpa, Dad, and Uncle very proud :)Little Bit (Gracie) calling those Hogs! She wasn't AS into the game as Ash was, but she certainly did every cheer :) A couple of group shots for the parents before everyone left. Notice Bro-in-law hiding behind Sis. Hilarious! You could say that he's not THAT into pictures.
On another note, I can hardly wait for Christmas time and decorations. Plus, my family is coming back up to go to a basketball game and to visit The Square. I, of course, Can't. Wait.

Brief Weekend Wrap-Up

Its Sunday night and I'm happy as a lark :)

I had the perfect dose of Family Time this weekend and couldn't feel more blessed. Husband is sitting with me on the couch (and of course The Cat) watching one of our favorite shows (The Amazing Race).

Tonight is one of those nights where all you want to do is enjoy spending that good quality time with the people around you, so I'm going to make this post brief: A little peek at our spectacularly perfect weekend, if you will :)

I had the Joy of spending my weekend with these special people. They are some of The Most Important People in My Life. It feels my heart to overflowing with the amount of love and happiness that I feel each and every time we all get together. This time proved to be no different.
Here is my Family at the Razorback game this weekend: Gracie, Dad, Mom, Me, Husband, Leah, Ashley, and Jimmy.

We had the best time. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect weekend. God truly blessed us in every way imaginable, from Perfect weather, to Perfect food, to a Perfect Razorback Victory :)

Even though I feel a bit like a Mother who just sent all of her children off to college and is now left with an empty nest, I can't help but feel the joy from this weekend still lingering. When the last car pulled out of our driveyway, Husband and I couldn't help but notice how quite it was in our house. One of those bitter-sweet moments for sure. So happy to spend time alone together, but so reluctant to see everyone leave.

And there is always this sweet face that I found in our bed last night after our "Movie Night."
My heart just melted when I saw her all tucked in, feeling right at home in Our House. It makes for a Happy Aunt.

I hope you had as great of a weekend as we did, and I hope you have a very blessed week. I'm going to go spend more time with my two sweet boys :) Speaking of, have I mentioned that my husband is The Husband for all others to live up to? Of course you may not agree, and most likely think the same about your own, but this is a fact. I have the best husband in the world. More on that later :)

Fall Door Decorations

At this very moment, I am sitting on the couch with these two:
Aren't they sweet :) Nights like these make me so happy. We are watching The Office, and if you don't watch it, you should really give it a chance! It is one of our favorite TV shows. I adore Jim Halpert and Pamela Beasley Halpert, two of the main characters and love birds.

Anyway, back to more important bloggy things, other than my silly ramblings. Although I could go on and on for entirely too long....

So, yesterday I showed you some indoor Fall decorations. Husband and I recently went to a Nursery close to our house and picked out some things to spruce up our front door. You know, to make it a little more festive. We are very traditional, so we got the usual things you see around this time of year. The only difference is that they are Our decorations, decorating Our door. That makes them loads more special.

I am a big wreath fan. I think that, on the right door, they are a must! There are always so many options and its so easy to make them personal and add things to them to make it whatever you want.
You can't decorate for Fall without including some Mums. The yellow ones are my very favorite because they are oh, so bright and cheery. We could use one more pot of them, which I think I just may pick up on my way home from work tomorrow :)
We also picked up some corn stalks and hay bales. I never thought that I would be the type to enjoy these on my own porch. I love it when other people use them, I just never thought that I would. Turns out that I love them. They are very homey and VERY Fall! Our porch isn't very big, but just big enough to accomodate our purchases.
Of course we had to throw in some Cinderella Pumpkins :) I had no idea that they were called that, but when I found out, it made me love them even more. To add a little something, we cut off some of the actual corn ears from the corn stalks and layed them out on the hay bales.
Unfortunately, to get all of these items to our house, we had to load up Husband's Pathfinder....which means, as we speak, it is filled with loose hay every where. And when I say every where, I mean ALL OVER THE PLACE. I felt so bad, but there was no way they could possibly fit in my car and Husband would ever let me do that anyway. He is entirely too sweet to me and insisted that we not worry about the hay. What a Gent :)

Speaking of Husband, here he is being sweet and hardworking again.
I just adore him. He takes such good care of me and is the best friend a person could ask for. I'm smitten.

The family is coming up tomorrow and we are super, super, super excited. The Cat hasn't seen them in over 3 months and, even though Husband thinks The Cat won't remember them (sweet of you to say), I am absolutely sure he will be over joyed!

And just so y'all know, I really enjoy getting to hear from all of you. Its fun to "meet" readers that I didn't know read, and to hear from those that I know well. So thanks!

Also, how do you feel about Christmas cards. Such as cards with just writing, or cards with a family picture, etc. This was another discussion between Husband and me. It was very amusing and he seems to think he will get his way. He must forget how well I can bat my eyelashes :) Let me know what you think. I'll be sure to let him know :)
